NICO CLAUX (THE VAMPIRE OF PARIS)

Nicolas Claux was born the 22nd March 1972. He started to paint in 1996, while he was serving time in France for murder. His first commissions came from collectors of murderabilia, who were more interested in the signature than the art itself. But Nico discovered that he could indeed channel his fantasies into his paintings, finding a new way to express his inner torments. His technique developed with the help of older inmates who taught him the use of oil painting. Nico was released early in March 2002, and he has become a full time painter, exploring the darkest sides of his mind through the world of art. He has been able to use his time in prison constructively as he worked hard to change and turn his life around, achieving a new status as an artist, and progressing and becoming involved in artistic communities.

NICO CLAUX (IN HIS OWN WORDS)

"My name is Nico, I work as a morgue technician, and I live with my fiancee Houne (A.K.A. Killing Zoe on Myspace) somewhere in the city of Paris.I am better known for my artworks which have been featured in several exhibits around the world (including San Diego's Museum of Death), and published in Sondra London's book "True Vampires". Bizarre magazine has labelled me "France's most extreme artist". I also participate to television shows (Channel 4, Sky TV, RTP) as an expert on murderabilia and deviant art. "

We are also still considering additional artists for this product so if you would like to claim a bit of fame in a product that will be seen around the world, send us your art. GERARD TORBIT (IN HIS OWN WORDS)

"I'm from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Influences for me come from a load of places, yet mainly horror films, serial killer books and gore sites, and I really admire artists such as Basil Gogos and Glenn Fabry. I have one basic art qualification, yet two very different former jobs, one in the local comic store and another in the coroners office. The second had more of a lasting impression on me than art college (i'm not interested in drawing bowls of fruit, thats for sure!!!). As such, my work is more often darker than the usual. I feel that dark or morbid images, like dark lyrics to music, though often harder to stomach, are a necessary evil which we can use to further our ideas on life."
